Live PreviewSee the draft on your real site.
Open any entry beside the page it lives on. Switch between draft and published, try it at every device size, and know which pages a change will touch before anyone else sees it.

Give a model a route, and let your site name the page on each read with one optional header. Capa joins the two into a map, so the question editors ask most has an answer: what breaks if I unpublish this?

A preview link that only works for you.
- 01
Open the entry
The editor loads your site with a preview token on the URL, minted by Capa for that entry and that path.
- 02
Your site checks it
The SDK verifies the token with Capa, turns on draft mode and sends you to the page. A forged or stale token goes nowhere.
- 03
Drafts render, uncached
In draft mode your site reads with its development key, so the draft shows, and nothing it renders is cached.
- 04
Visitors see published
Everyone else keeps reading with the production key, which only ever sees what you published.
Drafts are a key, not a flag.
A key carries an environment. The same URL and the same code read published content or drafts, depending on which key asks.
| Production key | Development key | |
|---|---|---|
| Looks like | cap_live_… | cap_test_… |
| Reads | Published entries only | Every entry, with draft data where there is any |
| Status | published | published draft changed |
| Cache | Cached at the edge | Never cached |
| Use it for | Your live site and anything it ships | Preview, draft mode and checking work before it goes live |
Preview, answered.
Is preview the same as visual editing?
They work together. Preview shows the draft on your real site at any size. Visual editing adds click-to-edit on top, so the page becomes the form.
Does it work in Safari?
Yes. Every preview load carries a fresh token that your site honors on any page, so the draft still shows when Safari blocks the preview cookie.
What does the Pages map need from my site?
One optional header on each read, Capa-Page, naming the page. The SDK sends it from a page option. It never changes the response or the cache.
Can I preview a scheduled change?
Yes. A scheduled publish puts the latest draft live at that moment, and preview always shows the latest draft.
Stop publishing to find out.
